Worth Matravers is an unspoilt Purbeck stone village located about 4 miles south of Corfe Castle and about 3 miles west of Swanage, set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and overlooking the World Heritage stretch of Jurassic coastline.  The area is popular with families, walkers, nature lovers, and cyclists.  The well known Square & Compass pub is a few minutes walk from Compass Cottage.

Winspit and Seacombe - walk straight from the door. Chapmans Pool 2½ miles - empty beach. Kimmeridge Bay 8.4 miles - splendidly scenic with the Clavell Tower, fossil beach and marine reserve. Swanage has two supermarkets, good butchers, delicatessen, an excellent fishmonger, and the town has an superb choice from quality fish and chips and cafes to a good variety of restaurants and fine dining, fishing and boat trips. Swanage hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year, and is famous for its Carnival Week in July and New Year celebrations, as well as the Folk Festival, Jazz and Blues Festival, Purbeck Arts Week etc.

Historic Corfe Castle is 3.9 miles, with the castle, thriving village, four pubs serving excellent food, the National Trust tearooms, shops, the family-run Dragons Bakery and Clealls village store selling locally sourced food and produce.
